In our sixteen years of existence we have been fortunate in receiving many manuscripts of high caliber. We have been successful in helping these writers to polish their works, and then have gone on to sell them to commercial publishers. Helping writers to hone their craft and produce a saleable manuscript is an exciting and rewarding task that we relish. All the authors mentioned on this website had their first book published while
working with the Pelham Agency. When a writer submits a promising manuscript, we
work extensively with the author until the work is ready for marketing. (There is no
fee for this work.)
When we establish a representation contract with an author, the author pays the
cost of photocopying the manuscript (or provides the photocopies) and pays the
postage for submissions. If there are rejection letters, and alas, often there will be,
we send them on to the author. When a manuscript sells, the agency receives a
15% commission.
Before you send us your manuscript please query first, either by regular mail or
e-mail. A query should be no more than two pages long. Summarize the plot of your
novel in a manner that goes beyond the one or two short paragraphs that are found
on a book flap. Be sure to include information about your main characters and how
they interact. We would also appreciate a few lines about the potential readership
for your work.
Our agency is most interested in genre fiction including fiction for the Christian
